Three storied illegal call centre raided in Chowringhee

Based on credible information, ARS DD conducted a raid on September 27 at 60A, Chowringhee, Flat no.10, Kolkata-20, targeting the premises of a company named "Translinks." It was discovered that an illegal call center was operating from this location, primarily involved in deceiving citizens in Australia.
The operators of this illegal call center would contact Australian citizens, often posing as employees of Norton, Internet Service Provider Telstra, Amazon paybacks, among others. They would falsely promise refunds and then gain remote access to the victims' computers using software like TEAM VIEWER and Joho Assist. Subsequently, they would siphon money from their accounts into foreign banks, with the cheated funds eventually funneled through Hawala routes, Bit-coins, or gift cards.

During the raid, law enforcement arrested a total of 40 individuals, comprising 35 males and 5 females, in connection with the illegal call center operations. Several pieces of evidence were seized from the scene, including 50 desktop computers, 6 hard disks, 12 mobile phones, 3 routers, 2 servers, and 50 IP phones.

A case has been registered at the Cyber Police Station under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including 120B, 403, 411, 419, 420, 465, 467, 468, 471, as well as sections of the Information Technology Act, such as 64, 66, 66D, and 84B/43 1T Act.
